  • Back out with the camera

Undertook my first real trek off-road today in my 2008 Prado GXL diesel - which I have had for 3 weeks.
Canberra to the summit of Mt Coree (3rd highest mountain the ACT), to the Gudgenby-Flea Creek confluence, and up the Brindebella valley before turning for home.

Mount Coree - yes to can drive to the summit. That is a fire tower. 1408 metres.

With my daughter at the trig station. At 1bout 11am it was 12 degrees - where as down below it was over 20.

There will be more of this I can tell you. Was guided by my BIL in his 4WD. Learned a lot from him and also about how capable the Prado is.

Good stuff, Terry, so good to see you finally seeing all your plans coming together. That looks like some offroader.
The picture tells the story, great when you have a bad memory.DW.

WowTerry, nothing to stop you now from fully embacing "the great outdoors!" ... that mean looking snorkel will certainly get you across the flooded Fitzroy (so long as you stay on the bridge, mate! )
Anyway, the Prado looks great, I'm green over it, nice and spacey for camping.
It brings back our own 4WD memories when Janette and I with our 4 kids toured the Outback in a Nissan Patrol - especially the Birdsville and Stzrelecki Tracks.

I bet you are looking forward to heading off to the Flinders, good luck to y'all but don't stop there!

Your next post may instead be titled, Out back with a Camera, eh?

Now the fun starts Terry! This set brought back memories for me too.
We have had some shocking (and unusual) winds in SA recently, so I hope they didn't spoil your trip to the Flinders.
Looking forward to seeing more from your travels.

That looks a great adventure, with many more to come by the sound of it. Looking forward to following your progress.
