  • My First Fox

I spent most of the day in the rain like many today walking alongside deer trails. I don't know why but they were more skittish today than the many times I have been in the field shooting them (with the camera of course). One possible answer is it is coming up to the rutting season and some herds are starting to form with two or three stags in the group. After taking many of the same as in the past they were sent to the deletion bin.

However, on one sweep I spotted a fox and managed to take just three images. The fox being inquisitive didn't leave me with a sharp pic before running off. His/her lower chest was covered by a fencing bar and after a considerable amount of work here it is.
    . . .

It would be pleasing to gain some comments.

Just like that - gone in a flash! Now in use.

    Re: My First Fox

This is exactly how I see the foxes that live in the fields outside my house.

Normally I'd have made a comment about using a tighter crop, but here the fox is shown in just the environment they love. The tall grass is full of food and they can drop and hide as quick as a flash.

I really like that it has spotted you and you have that wonderful moment of eye contact, that is so fleeting that you did well to catch it. On hot days when they have fed well and are sleepy they will stare at you for ages and only move if they think your a threat.

    Nicely done

I know that they are considered vermin by some but you cannot help feeling an attraction for them when they look at you the way that this one is in your photo. Photos are not all about technical perfection and this one has great appeal. You have done well to get rid of the fencing bar. Had you not said then I would not have noticed.

I own a long hair alsation with a very bushy tail. Whilst taking him for walks at night, I frequently found that we were being followed by foxes all the way from the house to the park. On two occasions, a fox actually waited for outside our drive for us to leave for the walk.

      Cheers
