Forth Bridge by johndal, on Flickr

My daughter's living in N Queensferry, so hopefully I'll get back when the weather's not dreich. The reflections here on a calm sunny evening would be amazing.

I really like that. There is a wonderful sense of depth caused by the conditions and enhanced by the processing. Thanks for posting. Are you sure you need to go back?

      Re: It's that bridge...

Although not normally a great fan of mono I really like this.

The composition is excellent with the bridge both diminishing in size and clarity as it disappears into the mist. The lack of any background keeps the focus on the subject whilst the foreground water and reflection give context.

      Thanks for sharing.

This is a superb image and although as you rightly say the reflections on calm water would be amazing, I think you will struggle to produce a better image of the scene than this one!

That really is a corker of a shot and I think Ann1e's comment has it dead to rights.

It haste a dark forbodeing look about it and I can easily imagine this on the front cover of an Ian Rankin crime novel.

Interesting coincidence - the other B&W shot I've posted off this trip, on this thread, is of Ian Rankin/Rebus's Edinburgh local, The Oxford.

              Re: It's that bridge...

I've seen plenty of pictures of the bridge in perfect conditions, it's nice to see one in poor weather in gritty monochrome.

Great shot. Love B&W as you may know and you've done a really good job here in capture and post.

Fantastic shot. I just love that style of timeless imagery that makes things almost impossible to date.

Great composition, just a bit too gritty/overprocessed for may taste.

                        Suggests an old image.
Timeless feel to it. Bit gritty but just about OK. Maybe sepia toned?

I like the shot, but always prefer colour.

BTW. If the Scots vote for devolution, will they be paying for the new Forth road bridge - or will the U.K. pay for it and the Scots collect the revenue from it?

I agree, the graininess is borderline on this, on a big print it may be a bit OTT. I'm not sure I like sepia, it reminds me how old I am
