  • I think im going to need a bigger bird feeder

I'm surprised at how quickly birds have started coming to the feeder I set up on Friday. Already we have seen Blue Tits, Starlings, a Robin a Magpie and this fella.

Yes. Some feeders are designed to only allow small birds access to the food.

I am always amazed at how much they can eat in one sitting and still fly away. I watched one eating the peanuts I had just put out in a dish very similar to yours. One, two, three, four.......twenty five......thirty one, thirty two, thirty three and only then had he had enough.

A nice capture of bird that I am sure I'll become a very frequent visitor to your feeding station.

Pigeons and doves have the potential to ruin what you want to achieve. I think it's best to discourage them.

If you don't have to many cats in the neighbourhood you can ground feed to keep bigger species off the feeders. Ground feeding will also attract species that don't use feeders.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.
