Amazing what you find when you don't expect it

I was in melbourne for the day for a hair appointment and was scouting arround for some shots of architecture old and new for a club task, I had been eyeing up this stunning doorway with ornate doors and sweeping brass bannisters, so I walked up and looked in blew me away I found out ...later that it was the old commonwealth bank builging erected in 1851...............


Then I walked down the corridor and my jaw dropped.I never knew this was here



Then I looked up




lastly a new bank building the NAB it has no straight edges and I love the colour

The old bank is a stunning interior well done for spotting it.

I love that first shot I may have got down lower for it myself. It is need of straightening a little which can be done.

The others are good and I like the new bank too.

Nice architecture. I particularly like the NAB building. Do you know when it was built? Thankfully concrete brutalism and elephant house shuttering seems to be dead and glass and colour has taken over.

Did either make your hair stand on end?
We have a thing here called Doors Open day where buildings not normally open to the public are open on various days in September. Does Australia?

Lovely buildings. We never saw either of those when we visited Melbourne.
