Re: First attempts at Street...
Street photography definitely isn't easy, and I don't profess to be any good at it myself.
This was an excellent first attempt, though, and I agree with John about the third shot.Roger

Re: First attempts at Street...
No. 3 definitely fits the bill. Composition and subject. The man dozing whilst another only a couple of feet away jabbering away. Really works for meJust for fun .... www.facebook.com/theextrathird

Yes, a good set but No 3 is the killer shot. Excellent!John

The third shot is the stand out for me also.

Agreed on the 3rd shot. The contrast between the two ends of the activity scale is excellent.
At the risk of derailing the thread what's with the guy in the last shot. How much stuff is he carrying? What is that all about?
HecI've worked hard to be this grumpy. It hasn't been easy at times but it's worth it.

Re: First attempts at Street...
Thanks for all the comments - The last guy had rucksacks on back and front, waistcoat shirt and tie, walking boots, goggles and headphones and was using 'Nordic Walking' sticks - he had a right strut on, and by the time I got the camera on him he was half behind some steps. quite heavily cropped as he was about 50m away. There were 2 girls behind him taking the p*ss, but couldn't get them in shot.

Re: First attempts at Street...
I don't think street photography is very easy.
It is easy enough to snap subjects but they have to "speak" to me.
For this reason I like No.1 Jim.
It made me wonder what the young man was looking pensive about. I also like the different colours and shapes in the photo.
I reckon for your first attempt it is a pretty good set.

Re: First attempts at Street...
Hi Lyn,
No. 1 is my favourite too for exactly the same reasons as you. He was sat there for ages just staring into space. The sunlight was pretty harsh which shows on the pillars in the background, but other than that I like the way all the lines are different.

No 1,2 and 3 are super - especially 3.
I think they'd all look good in mono too....but thats not to say they should be in mono, colour look good too.
I like street....but I'm always nervous when I do it...but not enough to stop me!see my blog... http://www.rps.org/my-rps/portfolio
