Some sunny day flowers

I haven't posted much here recently, I've been mostly shooting stuff for ID when I get back home. Kind of "larn yersel botany". Plus whatever else catches my eye of course.

This is the kind of thing, from a walk around one of those dense Sitka plantations we have up here.

Rosebay Willowherb. Common as muck, but I think they look great against the sky.


Wild Raspberry. Please don't tell me it's a bramble

No idea what the bug is. I don't have a book on bugs.

Here's a moss capsule from a different walk nearby, I was quite chuffed to get the ID right, I really struggle with mosses. I resort to "wildaboutbritain.co.uk" when I get stuck, they're pretty good on there so long as you've made a decent effort at ID yourself. A resident expert confirmed this one.

The Moss capsule is very interesting.

I thought the bug might be some species of Shield Bug but I can't find one that matches in my books or here. http://www.britishbugs.org.uk/galler...atomoidea.html

Lovely detailed shots with excellent DoF control. The bug is not a Shield Bug but a Capsid Bug.

Thanks for the comments, and thanks for the ID David. I see from Wikipedia that there are 10,000 species of Capsid . I think I'll leave bug ID's to the experts

Thanks Chevvy, it has been a busy couple of months with all this good weather. You can't waste opportunities to get out, so there's been plenty walks with SWMBO, photographic exploring, climbing and losing golf balls.

oooh! I thought walks with SWIMBO, photographic exploring, climbing ... you would FIND GOLF BALLS ... so perhaps you were clubbing the balls first ? and they hid from another clubbing ?

It's a bit embarrassing, but I seem to be playing golf once a week now . As badly as I ever did, though .
