  • Rare and unprotected

Look what I found up a side alley in Knighton, Powys.

    An Art Installation I think...

The 'umble Ford Sierra was one of the most common cars on our roads in the '80s. How come they all vanished so quickly...?

Anyway I was so impressed this 1.6GL estate still exists (in a way) that I declare it to be a National treasure and request listed status.

Didn't the sub frame ripple with a light front or rear end impact or was that just early models?
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.

Remember how the Sierra was nicknamed the jelly mould because it seemed so rounded after the Cortina?

Not so rounded now compared with the weird and wonderful items on the roads these days..

How many Cavaliers do you see on the roads these days? Vauxhall stopped making them in the mid 90's IIRC gut GM continued making the Chevrolet Cavalier until 2005 or so in North America.

I like the way it looks as if it was driven into the hedge, whereupon the mirrors fell off and it died on the spot. Well spotted Pete.

It's amazing how once common cars just suddenly disappear. It makes you wonder where the classic cars of the future will come from. The Fiat Tipo was once very common but I can't remember when I last saw one. I owned a turbo diesel version and it was a very practical car but it had hopeless reliability. The mechanic who looked after it said that Fiat stood for Fix It Again Tomorrow!
