  • Deer ID please :)

    any nature experts out there can ID this deer species for me ?

    Found a mile or two up the road (farmed I assume), I didn't know they were there.

    Look like Roe Deer to me. I doubt that they're farmed. Tasty, though!

              I don't know if these are farmed but they are farmed in the UK and North America.
              It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.

                  I assumed they were farmed as we don't live in the wilds of Scotland or anything, on reflection the field looked more like a mowing field rather than one you would put stock into and it was adjacent to a large area of woodland. i will go back at some point and see if they are still there.

                    They are either wild or part of a private herd in a deer park. I did read once that Cumbria and other Northern upland areas are the only parts of England left with true ancient wild herds of red deer, and that anywhere else in England they were wiped out and reintroduced/restocked with non-resident (European) herds. This would have happened centuries ago.
