    Crab ...

    ... spider. The common crab spider. I just read that "The male common crab spider has an unusual method of mating with the female. First he grabs hold of one of her legs, and waits until she stops struggling. He then ties her down to the ground with threads of silk. Finally he crawls underneath her to mate". Cheeky!

    A couple of other little creatures from today. All on OMD + 60mm Macro. Apologies to those who tire of a shallow dof, but i love it. I also love this versatile lens.

              Excellent quality in #1 and fabulous colours. From the pedipalps I would say this is a female Crab Spider, and if not, he looks quite a bit gay ...

                  I think we can forgive the male crab spider's sexual indiscretions, just a means of not ending up as the main course at the postcoital feast as with many species . lol

                    It's certainly exhibiting a preference for pink lol.

                    This from a day or two later, in the same pink lavender flower.
