Re: Wild or escapee?
Looks like what i know as Garden Honesty. Not a native but has colonised most of the world afaik. It's from the Caucasus iirc. Makes those odd shiny disc-like seed cases that goes into dried flower arrangements.__________________

Re: Wild or escapee?
I thought Honesty too but I'm not sure as there are no Honesty-like leaves in the shots.

They grow wild along the local canal by me.

Re: Wild or escapee?
After looking closely I think you are correct David, it is probably Dame's Violet
(Hesperis matronalis) a member of the mustard plant family.Regards Paul.

Re: Wild or escapee?
Thanks all - I did identify them several posts back, Dame's Violet. This is a fairly positive identification by someone far more knowledgeable than I.
The scent of them is wonderful and there are masses of butterflies. Orange tip and brimstone (plus, regrettably, cabbage white) I know. I may be seeking ID on some of the others if only the wretched things will stay still long enough to be photographed.
As a matter of interest are there any M.Zuiko 60mm macro owners reading this? If so, how rapid is the autofocus?
