Re: More flexing the 60 mm muscles

The clean lines in #4 make this the best of the set, for me. The DOF in #1 is too thin for my taste - I would like to see all 4 (4 1/2?) from that top stem as sharp as the one dead centre. Well done Huw.

        Hello Huw,
All good Huw, my favourite is no.4 for the simplicity but as Chevvy says the detail in the fly is superb.
        Regards Jim.

Re: More flexing the 60 mm muscles

              Hello Brian,
I think no.2 is a blowfly which lays it's eggs on dead animals which hatch into maggots. They are usually iridescent blue or green. Horseflies have patterned eyes and rest with half open wings.
              Regards Jim.

Re: More flexing the 60 mm muscles

Exceptional detail in #3 that shows off the 'muscle flexing' prowess of your 60mm, Huw.

When in your previous post I commented that I can't compete with that, to which you replied correctly that it's not a competition, it was on my part simply a colloquialism, not a retreat!

I am impressed by your macros but also miss the walks you took us on, and the odd tour of Brussels.

Thanks Mark, of course I understood your initial competition remark, I was only having a bit of fun myself

With regard to walks, never fear I've kept my my powder dry
I have a couple of recent excursions up my sleeve... having now said that I hope they live up to the billing

I just love the English countryside Huw, I experienced a little of it on one of your magnificent coastal walks between Boscastle and Tintagel ... unforgettable.

I seem to recognise the species in the second shot but don't have my European bug books here in Canada. I want to say solitary wasp/ichneumon species.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.

Lovely set, it's No 4 and No 3 for me the 60mm is truly a superb lens and from this presentation you've unleashed it's power, great pictures.
