  • Whetear and Willow Warbler

    Hi All

Was out and about recently and managed to catch these birds. Not often seen by me, so was nice to be able to get half decent shots. Each one was with the E-5 + 70-300mm.

    Whetear (male)

    Willow Warbler

    Both on Skomer...

Ah, you've been back to Skomer - I trust you had a great trip. These two bird portaits are excellent, as I would expect from you.

Thanks John, appreciate the comment. Yep, was another great trip, always a real delight going there. The Bluebells and Campion are very late this year though, as are the Puffins. Seems like spring is 2 months delayed!

Two fine portaits in natural surrounding. In my opinion "half decent" is a clear understatement.

A bit of trivia. It's thought that the name Wheatear is derived from the old English name White ****.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.

Very nice shots that would be perfect for any bird id guide.

David - yes, I'd come across that derivation, and when you see them fly away (usually just before pressing the shutter) you can see why.
