  • Spectacular weather

Yesterday the evening forecast was for sun and showers, so I headed out to where I could get a good vista westwards over to the Cheviots hoping for a good sunset with heavy showers in the scene. What I got was 95% storms with the odd appearance of the sun, and the two best shots were looking in the other direction, east over the moor and away from the sun.

The only treatment this has had is to clone out my shadow and some rain drops on the lens. It was blowing a gale with large raindrops flying around. The 7-14mm wasn't wide enough to get the whole rainbow in, which is annoying. And don't tell me I should have stood farther back

Then, 5 minutes later this happened, just to the left of the rainbow:

Got so carried away with the first that I forgot the second, which is also nice.

There were two pots and I couldn't decide which one, so I left them.

                As you said,

There's always plenty to photograph though.

                  Good shots!

I believe the cloud formation is called 'mammatus'.

Wow! Two great shots. The second one reminds me of that famous Guinness advert (IMO the greatest ad ever) with the white horses in the surf.

                            Re: Spectacular weather

The clouds are Mammatus, usually found in association with thunderclouds.

I like the double bow. Nice to see bothe clearly delineated.
