  • Willow and Alder

A Willow Warbler surrounded by Alder catkins at Strumpshaw Fen. With their habit of perching in the uppermost branches of trees, photographing these birds really can be a pain in the neck.

    E-30 50-200 SWD, EC-14.

Nice, the first one is a great composition and posture. I know what you mean about the pain in the neck... Time permitting, I will rise the centre pillar of the tripod to get the viewfinder at eye level. (With risk for wobble).

Nice photos, everything about No 1 is just right, great pose, gorgeous blue sky all held together by the branches, I like it a lot.
