  • Birmingham Library

I had a pleasant few hours with the wife in Birmingham yesterday around the city centre and gas street basin taking pictures. I noticed (how could you not) the new library was nearly completed.

A few of the new building all taken with the E-PL5 and 14-42 kit lens.

    Regards Paul.

Nice set Paul I guess you either love or hate this style of Brutilist Architecture personally I like it, you chose the right day weather wise, great job.

That is a striking piece of architecture Paul. Great shots against the blue sky but wow it looks way out of place

        I agree.

Birmingham seems to be becoming the centre for wacky buildings.
The first shot makes me think of a psychedelic Lego brick that has been photoshopped in.

        Stunning shots nonetheless.

        Thanks for sharing.

Great shots, but I'm not sure I like the garish architecture. Good to be different, I suppose.

              Re: Birmingham Library

My preference is for the more classical looking building on the right. Good that you have captured both to show the juxtaposition.

                Thanks for looking guys.

It is certainly colourful and stands out, now with Selfridges that makes two rather controversial buildings in Birmingham.
                Regards Paul.

Certainly creates a strong impression doesn't it.
Super images by the way Paul, I like the way you have illustrated the contrast between the buildings in 1. And number 3 is also a favourite of mine.

It reminds me of those cages of rocks used to reinforce riverbanks.
