  • This Chaffinch knows how to cool off

We had a little bit of very welcome sunshine on Tuesday so I took the little one to the park. He likes the sound of running water so we stopped at every fountain for him to have a good look. Just before we were about to leave this little chap came in for a cooling bath.

Taken with an E-30 using a Sigma 135-400mm

Great photos, I really love the 3rd one - such a different pose, and all the detail of the damp feathers

Lovely sequence, that was quite a show he put on for you!

Super action shots Glynn. Nicely taken. Have you tried putting a large dish of water out in your garden? (I use a plastic patio plant pot saucer) If the birds turn up it could keep your young son entertained for hours.

Couldn't agree more - just love seeing birds bathing - and this is a lovely set.

Nice series, good pictures enhanced by the low perspective.
