Not of the familly but by the familly.

My wife, Debbie, has aquired my E510 following the arrival of my E3. She is still very much at the beginner's stage but has a naturally good eye for a picture (she is an artist) and has recently taken a liking for my 70-300mm. Here are a few of her efforts:-

Not to be outdone, my 9 year old daughter has claimed possession of my old Canon A85 compact which she took with her last week on her first holiday independent of us (we were more nervous than she was), a Young Archeologists Club course in Norfolk. For her age she doesn't seem to have too bad an eye for a picture (when she chooses to take a "sensible" shot) - a chip off the old block, maybe? Here are a few from her holiday:-

    John,

I love Debbie's first shot but I think it would look better with a bit of space at the right between the bird and the edge of the photo.

I'm impressed by your daughter's efforts (wish mine - 10 years older than yours - had a fraction of the interest!). Her second shot looks very familiar, although Norfolk is not an area I've visited for 40 years! Is it Castle Rising?

How did she get that lovely red on the cows? I always did think cattle were more revolutionary than they're usually given credit for!

Hope to see you in the cemetery in a couple of weeks (my current 'bad taste' greeting!)

    Regards,

    Andrew

      Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your comments, I'll show them to Debbie and Freya tomorrow. The fierce crop on Debbie's 1st pic is my doing - I cropped out the bird-feeder on which the finch was perched.

I'll ask Freya about the "red" cows - my guess is this pic was taken late evening, catching last rays of the sun.

      Yes, it is Castle Rising.

Looking forward to joining you in the cemetery!

      Cheers,

      John

I love Debbie's first shot, the detail is excellent, I wish I could get something like that with my E510 and 70-300, the others are also very impressive. She should join the forum in her own right.
Your daughter has a really good eye, I was particularly impressed by the castle steps, it strikes me as a very mature shot for a young person to take- you have clearly taught her well.
I too will see you in the cemetery......... and the canal.

          Hi John

Impressive shots from both your wife and daughter, it's great that you can enjoy photography as a family. And also to provide advice and tip/suggestions and ideas on each others photos.
I agree with Shirley, they should both join the forum

Look forward to seeing more of their photos.

          Cheers
          Susan
