      Re: Watching the birdies

Thank you Huw! I thought we may start seeing a few summer birds after a big thaw last weekend but we've had a week of snow since then and it's -8C with a wind chill of -16 mid morning. From the patio door I just watched an American Crow walking up and down snow drifts.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.

Thanks Andy, they're all taken with my manual focus Tokina 300 mm (FD mount) coupled to Canon x1.4 teleconverter, effective focal length 420 mm.

          Re: Watching the birdies

At 1 o'clock this afternoon there's a 'Polar Bear Dip' in Owen Sound where people go for a swim in Georgia Bay. It may be up to -5C by then.

That should have been Georgian Bay, can't edit posts on this Blackberry. It's -7.9C now so the Polar Bear Dip will be a cold one.

Three cracking shots indeed, the Blackbird just shades it for me.
The picture tells the story, great when you have a bad memory.DW.

Thanks John, I was lucky with this one as the blackbird stayed just long enough to get two shots off.

That sounds like a pastime that I would happily spectate but not participate

All great shots Huw, the teleconverter doesn't seem to have caused any image degradation judging by the detail and sharpness you have.
                      Regards Jim.

Masterfully shot there Huw. And along with the rest I agree that your Blackbird takes the cake.
