  • Corridors of Power

It seems that some of our best panoramas are marred by long-striding pylons that march over valleys and plains.
So, if these conduits of power cannot be avoided then they are to be featured as carriers of the nation's energy ...

Now a feature of most landscapes, rapidly being overshadowed here by Windfarms.
Do these appear in Australia too?
The picture tells the story, great when you have a bad memory.DW.

There's actually a pylon spotters club in the UK ....

Lovely vistas, by the way. Very "alpine".

There are a growing number of windfarms in Oz, I've seen them in throughout the countryside from the train to Melbourne.

            Re: Corridors of Power

I sort of like No3 Mark, but they are such ugly things.
When my girls were small and travelling with us in the car, we all played the game of holding our breath when we passed under them. The theory being that we wouldnt catch anything nasty! We still do it!
Controversy is raging in SA at the moment as a firm is seeking permission to put the largest wind farm in Aus on the Yorke Peninsular. We have quite a few already in SA.

Ugliness like beauty is always in the eye of the beholder Lyn. Personally, in certain settings I find both pylons and wind turbines very attractive structures but then I am just an oddball ! Submitted for your comment and approval, click here
