Having been laid up for most of December with a very nasty cold that turned into a chest infection, followed by the family arriving for Christmas I simply haven't thought about photography for a while.
However I'm now better and the family have gone home today. Sad at that but we will see them again in a couple of weeks or so when our second grandchild is due.
.
So just in time to post my 12 for the year before it ends.
A retired Lightship, now a museum at Harwich.

Brighton. Taken after a visit to Park Cameras OMD day where I first got my hands on an E-M5.

Audley End.

An interesting Plough. One of my earliest shots with the E-M5.

My favourite shot of our grandaughter Maisie. One of my rare B&W conversions and the only one of my shots I've so far had printed and hung on the wall!

The charming Michaela Strachan performed the official opening of our new visitor centre and inspired and delighted adults and children alike.

Sunset at our local country park.

In August "GrumpyHec" organised a fantastic meet up at West Mersea. Thanks Hec a great event.

A Dragonfly close-up, taken with a long lens. I like to be different.

Dramatic weather at the reservoir.

I bought a refurbished E-PL1 as a backup body and it produced another dramatic weather picture at Maldon.

My last photographic "outing" before the "lurgy" struck was a very pleasant stroll around Braintree with our friend, top poster and inspirational photographer Zuiko.

Well, that's twelve but in selecting these shots I've realised that I'm making progress with one of my objectives which is to develop my photography in areas other than birds.
So here's a bird, "Lucky 13 for 2013".
A rare Desert Wheatear thousands of miles off course, I do hope she was lucky and made it back home.

A very Happy and Peaceful New Year to you all and may you all get the shots you wish for.
