  • Just in Time. My 12 for 12.

Having been laid up for most of December with a very nasty cold that turned into a chest infection, followed by the family arriving for Christmas I simply haven't thought about photography for a while.

However I'm now better and the family have gone home today. Sad at that but we will see them again in a couple of weeks or so when our second grandchild is due..
So just in time to post my 12 for the year before it ends.

A retired Lightship, now a museum at Harwich.

Brighton. Taken after a visit to Park Cameras OMD day where I first got my hands on an E-M5.

    Audley End.

An interesting Plough. One of my earliest shots with the E-M5.

My favourite shot of our grandaughter Maisie. One of my rare B&W conversions and the only one of my shots I've so far had printed and hung on the wall!

The charming Michaela Strachan performed the official opening of our new visitor centre and inspired and delighted adults and children alike.

Sunset at our local country park.

In August "GrumpyHec" organised a fantastic meet up at West Mersea. Thanks Hec a great event.

A Dragonfly close-up, taken with a long lens. I like to be different.

    Dramatic weather at the reservoir.

I bought a refurbished E-PL1 as a backup body and it produced another dramatic weather picture at Maldon.

My last photographic "outing" before the "lurgy" struck was a very pleasant stroll around Braintree with our friend, top poster and inspirational photographer Zuiko.

Well, that's twelve but in selecting these shots I've realised that I'm making progress with one of my objectives which is to develop my photography in areas other than birds.
    So here's a bird, "Lucky 13 for 2013".

A rare Desert Wheatear thousands of miles off course, I do hope she was lucky and made it back home.

A very Happy and Peaceful New Year to you all and may you all get the shots you wish for.
    Peter

she looked at me and said "It's official. I hate your camera. It's just so amazing and perfect I want one!"

Lovely set Peter, the plough's very nice, but the standout is the B&W of your granddaughter, I love the light on it.

And a happy new year to all

Fantastic set Peter and what a YEAR you had - even laid up for one month

I LURVE so many - and recall them posted here too Audley end and your darling Grand daughter - what a shot, the light is FANTABULOUSY on her little face and the expression on her face is PRICELESS

and that Sunset and the old boat at Mersea defy belief FAB images

Happy 2013 and glad you have the "lurgie" out with the old year

Re: Just in Time. My 12 for 12.

Many thanks for your kind comments.

My own favourite is of course the shot of Maisie. The light on her face (from mum's i-phone) is what grabbed my attention. However, when I first posted it in the colour version a number of folks suggested the B&W conversion and that was what made it into a memorable shot. A fine example of the helpful and constructive contributions members here make which have helped me so much to improve my photography and increased my enjoyment of the hobby.

So a big thank you to everyone and long may the group continue.

              Regards.

A great set, Peter, and I know you have many more in your library. You've certainly diversified from birds, but don't give up the birds - you're so good at them, as lucky 13 proves!

                  Thanks John.
Yes I was surprised when I came to select the shots just how few decent bird shots I've taken this year. I guess the problem is having two hobbies which whilst they overlap are both time consuming. Time is the thing I never seem to have enough of these days, I frequently wonder how I used to find time to go to work.

                  Regards.

Great set Peter, difficult to choose a favourite, but the plough, Audley End and the sunset are terrific.
