    Re: Today's Trip

Chevvy, No airports on Skye allowed to take aircraft carrying fare paying passengers.
Fly to Inverness and either get the bus, hire a car or bus to Invernes town then a train to Kyle of Lochalsh, then bus again.
This tends to keep the casual visitor away.

        Re: Today's Trip

Drive time from Edinburgh or Glasgow to Skye is about 4.5 -5hrs.Benchmark.
However often people fairly new to the road take longerbecause they want to keep stopping to take photographs.
        You have Loch Lomond,
        Glencoe,
The Commando memorial at Spean Bridge
The view from the top of Invergarry,
        Glen Cluanie,
        GlenShiel.
All deserving of stops for snaps.
It's a tough life but someone's got to live it!

We drove all the way Chevvy, it is a long trek though. We stopped overnight at a hotel in Rhu then completed the final stint the next day.

We thoroughly recommend the Cuillin Hills Hotel, if you book make sure you pay that bit extra for the sea/loch/Cuillin Hills view

                Re: Today's Trip

Thanks for the further kind comments folks.
I have been feeling the guilt about No 4 so I had better 'fess up'; this should really be credited to Steve as he went low with his tripod at this location before I did, he also switched to portrait before I did and to top it off I was using Steve's 2 stop hard ND grad!
                So Thanks for that Steve.
Chevvyf1 - don't forget the return trip via Inverness to take in the 3 Glens at Cannich, The Moray coast and the Cairngorms! Even then you'd only be scratching the surface.

Iain, I like the photos. I think I can see a style appearing.

I'll go with no. 4. Print it big (not canvas) and stick it on the wall.
