Very grey day here today, not really conducive to taking 'picturesque' photos but perfect for indulging my fascination for randomly weird photos.

All these taken this morning using the 45mm wide open either at home or within 50 yards of home:

Not so keen on the colour one amongst the monochromes but just lovely especially the one with the padlock.

Thanks. The colour one was to jar your senses out of their mono comfort.

Actually, they were all shot in mono in the camera. I ended up converting the RAW files for all of them so I could make some very minor tweaks, except the padlock shot which is a jpeg straight out of the camera. It's great to be able to see the shot in mono on the screen or in the EVF even if you do end up converting the RAW file.

The garage door didn't work so well in mono, though.

My world is in colour - black and white is unnatural.

Unless you're colour blind, I guess.

I'm happy to exist in a mono and colour world, at least as far a photography goes - wouldn't be too happy if it was a permanent thing!

The only one that does not appeal to much is the first one

As a B&W I like the others I think the lock could do with more contrast but that's my taste.

If B&W is unnatural how about infrared B&W? That's next on my list of things to try.

Great images, I think with B&W it forces us as photographers to concentrate more on texture and tone as well as light and shade. A nice presented set including the colour one, thanks for sharing.

Hehe, it's a bit like saying that if photography had been invented first, painting wouldn't exist. Or if movies had been invented first, stills photography wouldn't exist.

Anyway, I'm sure that Olympus would have created an art filter for it - which would have been criticized as a gimmick!

I agree that the colour picture is perhaps out of place amongst all the monochromes, but I like it. I would, however, crop out the telegraph pole and crop a bit off the left side.

I agree, a tighter crop of the colour one would be a very strong image.
No 1 if my favourite as an artistic shot, followed closely by the dog (he looks great) but highlights a bit blown on my monitor?
