  • Sky, Pigeons

Now I don't for a minute consider this a "good" photo, but there was something about these Pigeons/doves wheeling infront of me. I had to take a picture.

Tell me why? I like it.
My wife's e-600 with my big 40-150MkI lens on it. Vivid, SOOC Jpeg. Nice combination.

Now, why don't you consider it a "good" photograph? What is a good photograph?

Here's a few coments that could apply, depending on your point of view:-

"There's no specific point of interest on which the eye can focus."

"It's a wonderfully random arrangement that liberates the eye to roam as it pleases."

"The light on the birds is too harsh, obscurring detail."

"The strong, directional light really makes the birds stand out against the sky and contrast with each other."

"There is no land included to provide an anchor or give context."

"Excluding all but sky from the background emphasises the joyful, unfettered freedom of the birds in flight."

I like it and think it's an excellent picture, capturing the freedom, spirit and essence of birds on the wing.

Don't know why but as soon as I opened it I thought Harry Potter?

I suppose at first glance they do look a bit like owls!

          I immediately thought "Freedom" Ulfric.
A photo I enjoy is a "good" photo for me, and I loved looking at the different shapes of the birds' wings.

I like these type of photos. It adds a little unknown not having any reference points. I finally managed to fire up the laptop yesterday and have a couple I took a few weeks ago of a similar nature. I'll try and get them up tonight

John; I like your philosophical approach to photography! Certainly food for thought
