Norfolk Landscape

I am not a good landscape photographer, I think I am too impatient to wait for the right light, shadows etc. However, I have just returned from Norfolk and really it is impossible not to try and capture some of the lovely scenery we saw, Norfolk really was a revelation to me.

We stayed in Titchwell and one evening, after a trip to local hostelry, , we went for a walk on Thornham marshes just as the the sun was setting. Here are a few of the pics I took.

Although I haven't included this in the looking for improvement section I am eager to learn landscape photography and so would value any feedback anybody can offer.

Some beautiful images of my home county Shirley. I especially like the soft colours and composition of the old boat on the salt marsh. Lovely stuff.

Shirley..I for one think you are a good landscape photographer!
No 1 and 2 are superb in my opinion...especially the old boat...very atmospheric.
I think the skyscape needs some foreground interest....perhaps a silhouette of a tree and the thistle some fill in flash perhaps?

Hello Shirley, your photos are lovely especially the first two, I like the dramatic tone filter as well and have used it more than I thought I would. It seems to give a paintlike tone to landscapes and is great for putting detail into grey skies. Have you tried the pop art for landscapes? It sounds daft I know but on holiday in Cornwall this summer I found it really useful on overcast days to boost colours on natural tones when the light was flat. It's no good on people though unless you like the fake tan look! I'm going to Norfolk in October, after seeing your photos I'm looking forward to it now. I love the marshes around the north coast everywhere you look is a great photo.

Thank you to everybody for your quick replies, very encouraging. Must admit I like them but it is always difficult to separate out the memories and emotions of a lovely evening and decide if the pics work for those who were not there.

Following on from Brian's comment, I found this one with some foreground interest, does it work better? The sky is not as dramatic but there is more in the image.

Nice set Shirley but the boat image is a cracker and I love the landscape painted on the cabin which is the icing on the cake for me.

Re last sunset.....yes I think that works better, its a more classic image but thats not to say of course that rules shouldn't be broken...the original sunset just needs something more than a great sky.
