  • Vine Weevil

Found this vine weevil (Otiorhyncus sulcatus) in my kitchen this morning, which was a bit unusual. The bad news is that there are probably many more in my pots outside and my begonia tubers will get eaten by their larvae again.

Put it on a piece of white card where it oblingingly stayed put long enough to get a couple of shots using 35mm macro:

I am a bug-lover, but i hope you squished it. There is an effective nematode worm available, you will have to treat soon though as the root damage will start in september/october. You should go out at night and search foliage and walls by torch light, and dispatch all adults you find.

The vine weevil, that is, not the photo. The photo's great.

            In the kitchen!
In our kitchen the slugs'd eat it. (Probably not)

            Creatures everywhere.

            Super photo!

Great shot! I like the fact that there is no background visible what's so ever. Well done!
