I don't think I've ever been to Bournemouth but I can think of similar lifts at Hastings and at Lynmouth / Lynton. Quaint and interesting subjects; the Exmoor ones are powered by water, if memory serves.

I believe the shot has potential but I think it might work a bit better with a portrait rather than a landscape orientation and a slightly tighter zoom onto the cars to make more of them and lose a little of the grey wall, foliage and sky. The track running diagonally from the corner is good and I would try to preserve that but the piece of white wood (?) on the right is a bit distracting so perhaps you could remove it during the crop. You could also experiment with brightness and contrast, without overdoing it, to compensate for the overcast conditions.
