  • Red Arrows display Weston- super-Mare

    Good afternoon,

Visited Weston-super-Mare last monday while we were having a couple of nights away staying at Tortworth Court. As a total suprise the Red Arrows did a display in the afternoon, so managed to get to the end of the pier and a play with the newly aquired E5 with the 18-180. As this is the first time I have tried to capture anything as fast as this I am pleased with the results. As for the E5 it just feels so much nicer in the hand. Really please with this camera.

    Thanks for viewing.

All good but No's 4&5 are crackers.I think seeing the landscape in No 5 really makes it.

Very nice shots Ian. You are getting much better results out of that lens than I ever did. Nice to see it getting some quality use.

Re: Red Arrows display Weston- super-Mare

              Ian,
              No. 1, 4 & 6 did it for me.
              Just a few tips:
Use spot metering instead of matrix metering
Use Aperture Priority instead of Shutter priority. You'll keep fast enough shutter speeds for ground to air photography of airplanes.
Set your ISO to ISO100. It's more then adequate for the job.
If you have: use the bigger lens such as a 70-300mm.
Fro more on photographing airplanes, see the tutorial and tips & tricks section. Look for the topic photographing airplanes.

Nice shots, for a first try.

                Andre,

Thanks for the comments and also for the tips, they will be very useful. I do have the 70-300 but I didn't have it with me .

Love your shots of the A380 leaving Amsterdam.

Siper shot's Ian, I was tempted to go to the display at Hastings a few weeks ago, wish I had now, although the crowds are a bit of a put off.

Thanks for making me a little more envious of E5 owners.

                  Best wishes..Alan

Set the ISO to 200, it's the native ISO on the E-5.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.
