    5 stringers are beautiful instruments, my mate's got a 1902 Whyte Laydee which is just gobsmacking in fine detail, and it's not his best banjo!

    Get some polishing done and post us some images.
    I nearly got myself one of those old Fairbanks (i assume it's a Fairbanks that he has) a couple times. Nice old-time sound with a Whyte Laydie, my old-time sounding banjo is a Vega tubaphone, my favourite. Yes, time to do those images.

      Oh yes, it sure does. Sounds even better when someone else is playing it.

      It has a sand cast bell-bronze tone ring (that weighs a ton), and has a more 'musical' sound that the more traditional banjo, and walnut gives a banjo a slightly softer, more brassy sound - compared with more traditional maple.
