  • Old glass macros

    Hello all.

All the following were shot on the OM-D, with the Olympus OM 90mm f2 macro (1:2 macro but with the crop factor). The OM-D looks fantastic with old manual lenses attached . All were at the closest focus possible, hand-held, and OOC with a little cropping. Despite it's lack of modern sharpness, this lens is lovely, and a capable performer.

The dof just slipped away a fraction with this one. Cropped slightly. f8.

    Bluebottle -- cropped slightly

This one took a while to get with such a shallow dof. f2.8, SOOC and not cropped.

This one i like a lot, cropped by about 50%, it was a very small garden spider and i wanted a shallow dof, again at f2.8.

That old lens is certainly working well on the EM-5. Nice sharpness and lovely bokeh.

Love the detail and DOF. But especially the colur tones of the backgrounds. Very pretty.

Hi John. Yes this is a great lens, if slightly overpriced currently. It's a good thing to get these things out of those dusty cupboards, and unused collections, and get them working again.

I think the secondhand prices are so high because it's a well regarded lens that was never common. I had one on order for 8 months before giving up on getting one.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.
