  • A Walk in the Woods

Sunday and Nick was busy burning trees - don't worry, only grotty Leylandi

All the windows and doors had to remain closed. So I went for a walk. At the last minute I took the camera.

IF only, I had the camera on and in my hand, while driving, I may have caught a shot of this Honey Buzzard picking up a mouse in the field! As it is I only managed a getaway shot as it flew overhead.

Next a few Bluebells at the woods. Nice colour and original with creamy white pollen.

I followed the path through the Bluebell Woods

and followed the sunlight along the river

whereupon I sat on a wooden bridge ... listening to the a bird singing

The bird I eventually discovered among the reeds ... a Chiff Chaff (I found out at home )

    ... Cont'd in another Episode

Lovely series here Chevvf1, I bet you enjoyed the walk in the woodlands.

One thing though, I'm afraid it isn't a Honey Buzzard, rather a Common Buzzard. The Honey Buzzard is a Summer visitor to the UK, and is particularly rare, with only a few nesting locations through certain areas of the UK. Common Buzzards are however, found almost everywhere.

I'd say you're spot on with the ChiffChaff though

You are so lucky to be able to walk in "Bluebell Woods"! What a wonderfully romantic thing to be able to do!
At first glance Chevvy I thought that buzzard was above your head by the bridge! Can you see him?
I really love the sunlight along the river shot, the Bokeh gives it a wistful feel.
Went for a walk myself yesterday to our local wetlands, but the birds were all bunkered down and only got a couple of very average shots. Nice walk though!

Danny, I must be spending too much time day dreaming about Bluebells because, now I notice the difference Whereas once they were just Bluebells . Same goes for birds singing ...

Lyn, YES that old dead tree stump (covered in Lichen and Moss) does look like a low flying Buzzard ... but when I scrolled up again, it flew away

In front of the Bokeh I wanted the "foreign" plant Bamboo, in focus, but its blown a bit but the dreamy effect came through

The only good thing about rabbits it that they taste soooo GOOD ! But the weird thing is that butchers don't sell them.

Lovely series Chevvy, my fave is the out of focus sunlit river - good use of DoF.

Alan, Thank You for your kind thoughts - I took these last weekend on my walkabout ! ... I know what you mean about "roundup" we usually have 6 or 8 Little People in the week - 20 mins to get in the car/MPV and arms in straps and buckle them all up, before the first wants a wee ...

Mark, you must have "posh" Butchers - ours are selling Rabbits and Pheasants and Partridges (most from poached or shot sources - sometimes both ) and some people are EATING SQUIRREL
