Colourful Hat Shop in Vienna last night...

Hi All

Had dreadful trouble logging in from the hotel room last night - am at airport now and connection is much better. Here's one shot I took while on walkabout yesterday evening - I rather liked the contrast in street lighting and shop window lighting... comments?

I like the warm red and glow of the building and its windows contrasting with the pastel coolness of the pavement

As Ian says, the colours work very well and I like how crisp and clean the shot looks. It looks to me as if you have taken it from lower than a normal eye height to improve the composition

The only thing I'd change would be to crop out the slightly distracting manhole cover.

Update: Scrolling the picture around makes me think I'm wrong about the suggested crop as doing so spoils the harmonious one third blue / two thirds red proportions that I don't suppose were accidental

I'll go against the grain here John

I would like to see a crop without the pavement as it give a very surrealistic "computer Art" look to the scene.

But failing that i agree about the manhole cover.

I like it but would make the top hat stand out more by blackening it!

The picture looks almost as if it's stepped off an art poster, with the blue pavement against those deep red walls. It's very eye catching.

On balance I think I agree about the manhole cover, although in some ways I think it balances the windows and I do like the depth of the pavement. I wonder if it would, somehow, be possible to make it the same colour blue?
