I envy your location Ian, I wish we had some old wrecks like that near me .
You have already made the most important comment on the first image yourself, so little more to add there, except that perhaps walking to the right around the loch and using a longer lens may have resulted in no trees in the shot and a out of focus background.
The other two are very nice, but the artist in me want to combine the two into something very special.
Regards Paul.
One day I hope to be the person my dogs think I am.

Paul, there is definitely mileage in the boat wreck and i didn't have time to explore last night, it was the first time I have stopped so I will revisit in the future. I like the idea of some artistic dabbling with the castle and moon - if it is a wet weekend (and it looks likely) I may give it a go!
My photoshop skills are not up to much but I managed to combine the 2 shots (I actually used a landscape shot of the castle to give more space) and here it is.
My initial thought was that it looks ridiculous, but I thought I would post it anyway and see if you have any advice on improving it?

Not ridiculous Ian and you have combined them well indeed, it is just that colour wise the ruin and the moon are out of balance.
May I make a suggestion of changing both to something that resembles a moonlit night by reducing the brightness of the ruin and and bringing the moon and ruin into balance colour wise and brightness.
For your consideration
Regards Paul.

I really like the composite of the moon and castle (that sounds like a great name for a pub!)
In No 1 you may have been able to avoid those branches by wading out a bit.....

Now Paul's edit really has made this something special - that's an option which never occurred to me!

Thanks Paul, that looks much better!
I think my 'ridiculous' comment is based on knowing too much about the subject i.e. if the moon did appear at the side of the tower like that it would be under water
If I take a step back and don't focus on the 'reality' it becomes a more acceptable composition.
Thanks for everyone's input.
