Nice recovery, Paul - the grass was right in the original so maybe some masking to revert the grass which is now a bit over-cooked? Then it would be really good

One thing I do like about CO6 Pro is the ability to copy a selection brush mask layer and also invert it, For example I selected Gabe with the selection brush to lighten him, then copied the selection and inverted it which allowed me to work on the background without have to go through the time consuming task of carefully selecting the backround around Gabe.Regards Paul.

Can't grumble with the remixed versions given what you started with. For those 'without' there is a trial version which will run for 60 days... you can find the link here... nothing to lose but time. It's not what inspires us that is important, it's where the journey takes us.

Lovely little dog - what breed is it?

Thank you Chris, and it is very good with skin tones as well.
John it really does not have extra tools compared to Lightroom it just handles them differently.
The brush tool works on layers where as LR does not and it seems to handle extremes better than LR with it's brush selections and this and its (for me) better detail rendition is why LR is not used on my machine much now.
For example my Bella is black and white and contrast extremes are always difficult, so I usually end up using the brush tool to add detail to these areas.
But when pushed to the limit LR's brush tool has some short comings even when used with a large amount of feathering.
For example this image needed the the tones and detail in Bella's white coat brushing back in.
But in LR you get some strange artifacting which I have sometimes noticed before using LR's adjustment tools.

Re: Destined For The Trash Bin
Thanks for the detailed reply Paul.
Having seen those artifacts in your post, I guess my workflow for that image would have to be stretch the histogram as far to the right as possible in LR, save as 16bit TIFF and use a 3rd party 16 bit plugin in Elements to adjust the levels (elements won't do levels stuff in 16 bits). Either that or mess about with 2 differently developed images in Elements.
This isn't as elegant as your Capture Pro workflow, and not so flexible. If I still had Photoshop it'd have been easier - I'd just do what you did in Capture Pro on the 16 bit image, but still not as easy.John

Re: Destined For The Trash Bin
I agree John two images developed for highlight and shadow combined would have been my approach also without the rather elegant way PO6 pro's brush layers work.Regards Paul.
