  • The lifeboat shed - Mersea Island

This is the lifeboat shed on Mersea Island. It is in fact only a few years old having replaced the older one 200m down the road when it became to small.

Taken on my E520 with the short tele kit lens early in January this year. It may not look it but it was bitterly cold and my fingers were so numb I was forced to walk home for a fry up soon after taking this

    cheers

I've worked hard to be this grumpy. It hasn't been easy at times but it's worth it.

It's an interesting subject, Hec, well suited to B&W.

      Thanks.

Looking at it again it needs another go when the sky is better and from a different angle, round to the left I think, so I'll wait for that and try again.

I have always liked the designof the British LBS - they are designed for RAPID launch of the vesell.

        Nice pic.

The problem here is lack of wet stuff anything lower than half tide. They use a superb tractor, which partially submerges, which pushes the boat right in and it floats off with one engine running. They bump start the other as they go through the moorings at 20+ knots. Very hairy

It's a great process to watch and maybe I'll catch some images of it one day and post them.

            cheers
