  • North Weald Mobilisation Centre

Also known as North Weald Redoubt.

Now I've lived 5 miles down the road from this place for 30 years and only found out about it in the last few months.
Built around the turn of the 19th century as one of a several across the south-east as an arms dump to be used in the event of invasion.

I believe some of the later buildings were part of Ongar Radio which I can just about remember as a child.

All given the photomatix treatment aand shot with either the 12-60 or 7-14.

How the car got down there is anyone's guess.
    All the best

    Andy,

Well done! How did you get in (as I'm told visitors are not encouraged!)? There's a line of these sites from Guildford round to North Weald, and i can send you more information if you're interested.

Well they don't want anyone getting in there and scratching that blokes car.

Great treatment on these images....would love exploring around here.
I wonder if we all have somewhere local that we never knew existed.
I know I have here as I have found a few places already...google earth is a good place to start.

There's a nice big hole in the fence.I wish I'd had a torch with me as there were bits I was a bit unsure of going into.

Nice set Andy, and a departure from your usual style.

An intriguing structure and almost an apparent parallel with the burgh forts of anglo-saxon Wessex in concept. Can't help wonder at the political imperative behind the construction.

What a find such an interesting place. You captured it really well too and that PP treatment definitely worked for me.

The HDR effects are very subtle, I like them a lot, lots of detail and colour, but not overcooked at all. Interesting stuff.

                        Very interesting set.

Nicely done on the HDR front. A good example of what it can be used for.

                        cheers
