  • Great Crested Grebe Dance

I got to see my first GCC mating dance of the year today - the light was too good to miss so I used up some of my hard earned annual leave to see these guys back in action for the first time since last Spring :

Thes birds are awesome to see at the best of times, let alone when they are in the "mood" as it were. If you haven't witnessed the mating dance of our native great crested grebe, get down to where they are have a look, its beautiful!

The lights just right in No4,out of interest what do you think your keeper rate is on a series like this?

As I've said before nowt wrong with the 50-500 if used carefully.

        Thanks both!

@Andy - I shot about 30 shots in this pair's dance, and I'd say deleted about 10 max. To be fair though, the 10 deleted were due to me and not the lens!

Stunning shots Danny, beautiful accurate colours and great light.

Did they find any weed to wave around or have they not reached that stage yet?

            Thanks for sharing.

I was lucky enough to get a couple like this last year, always entertaining to see.

                      Re: Great Crested Grebe Dance

Fantastic exposure on all these...all that brilliant detail in the whites.

Yes it's great to watch these dancing and the weed swapping is the icing on the case.
Look forward to seeing your take on it.

Our pair have only just started to get to know each other but the pov will be against me getting anything....have to get out and about to find some other pairs with these images to spur me on.
