  • Went to John's exhibition today

John had some outstanding images on display and it was interesting to see how well his E-3 shots compared with medium format film results from his earlier years.

Here are a few snaps from the gallery this afternoon:

Thanks for posting these Ian. My big regret is that when I visited I forgot to take my camera.
It was a great show which you've captured beautifully. The portrait of John is excellent.

    Regards.

Re: Went to John's exhibition today

I visited the gallery this morning, to see John and his exhibition. I was most impressed, as I always have been, by John's work, and the quality of the prints is excellent.

        Sincere best wishes.

Understand John banked a reasonable amount from the exhibition and sold five framed prints as well as a good number of cards and mounted prints. I think he was hoping to sell more of the framed prints and several unsold ones deserved buyers, but Great Dunmow does not have the foot fall for big sales really, so I think he did incredibly well.

I had a bit of fun deducing which prints were E-3s and which were from medium format film days. The 35mm film shots weren't too sharp because John used a flat bed scanner - fine for medium format but not really crisp enough for 35mm film. But John agreed that at 12x16 inch print sizes the E-3 was more than a match for the medium format prints
