It's true when the sun comes out it really shows the mallard at its best. In fact, depending which way the light catches the feathers, the head and neck can sometimes look blue as well as green. A nice capture. I like the way the eye is looking towards the camera without a turn of the head!

Thank You for stopping by ... this is the second shot - in the first his head was not at this "sun on" angle
and I waited and was rewarded (as our children came thumping along the path screaming ...) he turned

Yes those colours really glow in the sun. Nice one. Bet his feet are cold!

I'm always amazed at the colours of some of our native ducks when the sun comes out. This Mallard in particular is resplendent in his new breeding plumage and he knows it!

... I fear for the Ducks who went "through" the ice, the water below would not be where I want to sit ... numb bum comes to mind 
David, Thank you for your comments - I too am AMAZED at some of our Native Ducks
apparently, as the Park Keeper said, "most of the Ducks are now paired up" and the boys were definitely flashing their eyes at the girls ...
