Frosty but calm on the canalside

Saturday brought us a perfect winter's day - a heavy frost but with little or no wind the sun later in the day gave enough warmth to make our walk very pleasant.

1. Two early starters - now they would feel the chill remaining in one place over an extended period of time -



2. Just a little further along, this robin was rummaging for food on the water's edge and was well camouflaged apart from his red breasts - real and reflected!



3. Overhead a couple of seagulls were synchronised - practising for the Olympics perhaps? -



4. A lone cygnet - very friendly and anxious for us to cut some grass for his lunch -



5. You win some, you lose some. A kingfisher on a mission! -

Many thanks, Tim, Cliff and Barr1e for looking at and commenting on my pix.

To date, I have been glad we have been enjoying a milder winter than the previous two but I think now it might be quite pleasing for just a little seasonal chill along the canal stretch - not for too long, mind you!
