Yay, it is very kind of Olympus to allow the E-P1 to get access to the extra Art Filters not on the camera within Olympus Viewer 2. The 'Dramatic Tone' filter is becoming a favorite, but I must try not to overuse it

That's interesting. When I had an E-600 and an E-620, Viewer only gave me access to those filters available on whichever camera the file came from. I should have liked to experiment with the Dramatic Tone one but couldn't,

I still have files from both cameras and have just checked. I have six art filters available and the Dramatic Tone one isn't included. Am I missing something? I'm on version 1.21 - is there perhaps a more recent one that allows access to all the filters?

                Re: Scooter

Mine gives a different set depending on which camera I'm using.

                E-1 - None
E-620 - I get the 6 that are on the camera anyway
                E-P1 - Everything is available
                E-PM1 - Everything is available

I read somewhere that Olympus had permitted all Pen's the full set in Viewer 2 along with the E-5, but that other DSLR bodies could only use those Art Filters available on the camera. Some people have fiddled with the EXIF tags by editing hex data and have fooled viewer 2 into thinking that their earlier E series DSLR bodies are E-5's. I haven't tried that, but very happy that my E-P1 files can access them.

Thanks for this. I did a bit of digging and found the same. It's a pity - I'm not really keen on the art filters in general but the dramatic tone does look interesting. There are a couple of articles on the web about how to create the effect manually - if anything works well I'll post links on here for anyone interested.

I suspect that would be your only option, the Oly software does seem to mimic the cameras firmware capability.
