  • Solar Powered Flower

Came upon these yesterday evening, poking their heads above a neighbor's fence but the sun was directly behind them.
I returned this morning at 7:30AM to find them set against a relentless blue and smiling at the sunrise .

They are such a bright and cheerful flower Mark, and lovely against the blue sky.
I would love to see a closeup of the centre flower in No2.
I am waiting for my sunflowers to flower and hope to capture a couple of shots.

Vivid and very appealing colours there Mark, quite a contrast to my recent 'dull' exploits

          Thanks Huw.
Our summer will eventually give way to autumn and winter will come soon enough.
But unlike yours we still get many fine sunny days with a low angle sun, best for landscapes.
Sunflowers in design are so like the sun itself that it is easy to imagine that they consciously mime it.

Mark, what a delight to the eye as you say they "mimic" the sun

I spied some Sunflowers in a field here, the Farmers claim "Set Aside" Grants and sow wildlife friendly seeds for 20ft around the edge of their fields ! I hope he sows some this year.

              Thank you Chevvy.
Wangaratta is wonderfully 'liveable' with its many nature reserves, walking paths and bicycle paths that wend their way beside the rivers and creeks that interlace the town. The only thing wrong with that is that it is arguably the most un-navigable town in Oz - even the locally born and bred need Tom Toms to find their way about, although that may be due more to the copious amounts of grog they consume than its weird geometry.

Thanks for the closeup Mark - sometimes you get a big spiral effect with the seeds. Could depend on the variety.
                They sure make a statement.

Have you noticed that the spiral effect is most pronounced when viewed through the Stuart Crystal lens of your Savy Blanc?

And oh btw, my E-PL3 has landed in Sydney and (with luck) could be here on Monday.
