Inspired by the results from a Holga lens in this thread: http://e-group.uk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=17970
... I searched around my shelves for something really bad to try on my EPL3. I discovered the remains of a pair of binoculars I had dismantled. This was a selection of class and plastic concave and convex lenses which I reassembled in random manner using masking tape. The trick is to cup the lens in your hand, held on the front of the camera body. You focus manually (
) while keeping stray light out of the camera. Use aperture priority, so the camera takes care of the exposure.
Auto levels (Ctrl-shift L) in Photoshop will get rid of most of the light leakage effects. I shouldn't bother with raw processing
so:

and again using the remains of a russian 50mm I dismantled, and aiming for that tilt lens effect:

Which goes to prove that there's more to lo fi than meets the eye, you can't just poke anything on the front of the camera. So perhaps Holga (and Lensbaby to some extent) do have some magic up their sleeves.
Anyone else tried naughty lenses on their cameras??
