Sent out yesterday to take photos in Stirling. Damp, dreich and foggy.
Afterwards went to Sheriffmuir to take some battlefield photos.

The weather was a bit better.

The view southwest over the Carse of Forth to the Gargunnock Hills.
    my altitude about 1000feet/300m.

    Lots of toys.

Oh, I wish I had been there with you, those conditions are stunning.

This is one of the most atmospheric sunsets I have seen. Very little flare - presumably with the 12-60mm? Thanks

Beautiful shot well worth the excursion. That sun just looks like its floating over the clouds. I bet that's not the only shot you got. Post some more please.

Great shot Duncan - can I too ask if it was the 12-60? The sun has been rendered beautifully.

I also notice it was ISO 400 giving you a lightning fast 1/2400" - was that by design?

                  Re: above it all

                  Thanks everybody.

Yes it was the 12-60. A cracker of a lens. I'm thinking of getting another as a spare its so useful.
I've been trying to control the flare and I'm still not sure how I managed it.

I got a couple of other nice ones but I was there to photograph the battlefield so most of my time was in woodland and moors.

Battlefields, by their nature, are only ever interesting on the day of the battle otherwise its usually fields, woods and occasionally housing estates.

                      Thank you.
I forgot to mention that on coming out of the fog, as I drove up the road, there was a mistbow.
It sa good job. At one point, just out of lens range, I watched 8 bullfinches in a tree.

                      Quick change of subject.

                      What's this?
