  • Things you shouldn't do with a 9 mil

Yo' Snaarman's got a nine mil. No wot I mean? A 9-18mm wide zoom that is.

I do like wide shots, and I recently sold my much loved 11-22 and bought the wider lens.

And here are two things it shouldn't be able to do: Fake macro lens

    and depth of field tricks

    Wider still, and wider eh?

Just don't say 7mm to me ok...

I do like the fungal shot. It must've been quite close, hope it's not a poisonous one.

Of course if you'd used the 7-14....

Although not macro, closeup's with ultrawides is getting to be a cliche on rock climbing shots. This kind of thing

The 11-22 can do tricks like this. It's not quite as wide, but it is f2.8 not f4 wide open so it has a depth of field advantage there.

Hmm - me thinks I would rather have all my teeth removed by a blind Romanian butcher than part with my 11-22

That's my attitude about the 7-14.

              Oh, BTW Pete, 7mm.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.

BTW. The 7-14mm: Does it come with head clips so you don't get your ears in the shot?

My 9-18 is virtually the only one I use at the moment.

Always liked Ultra Wide and the effects it produces. Good examples

That nice first shot is quite inspiring. Never thought of doing that so wide.

I have an 11-22, and TBH I'm getting more and more like my father in that the older I get the wider angle lenses I am preferring.

Once when I was young, telephoto zooms were all that I wanted, these days the 11-22 gets far more use than my 50-200.
