  • Sunny Sunday in Dyffryn Gardens

Just a couple of weeks ago I spent a lovely hot sunny afternoon at Dyffryn Gardens.

This one and the next were beautiful violet flowes absolutely hummng with bees - which I couldn't get any decent shots of!. But I also couldn't match the colour exactly no matter what WB I used. However I liked both the versions I ended up with. Next time I'll shoot in raw!

A beautiful set of photos Cindy, the flowers are extremely sharp. Love the Robin especially. I always shoot in RAW, never ever in JPEG.

    Well done

Its is amazing just how beaurtiful the floral displays are at this time of year, in these big old house gardens so worth a visit !

Hi Cindy.......As said a great set.....

A slight movement in levels could bring the Robin out of the shade .....

              Hi Cindy,

Nice to see your shots of Dyffryn - you did say on my posting a few weeks ago that you had been there - seems we both enjoyed it in exceptional weather!
Nice selection of images - really taken with the shot of the robin - shade or not - very good. Nice shot of the formal beds from an unusual angle - hadn't thought of that one!
The purple flowers were spectacular and so were the bees!
It's a good place to wander around and I'm looking forward to seeing the autumn colours, and the changing seasons after that.

              Regards
              Jeremy

                Hi Keith,
I did do a bit of colour balancing in Photoshop - and the purple version is fairly accurate. But I kind of liked the vivid blue of the other one as well. Really I was trying for the bees - but most of the flowers were in shade, I was using the 70-300 and it's not quick to refocus. The bees never, ever visited the flower I was focused on!

Lovely set, the Alium and Robin shots stand out for me. The Alium has a kind of op art effect.
