Herring Gull enjoying a crab

Tuesday was a dreadful day, overcast with dense low cloud. Despite this, I took another birder around some of the local wildlife sites and took some photographs.

One sequence that I want to share with you is this Herring Gull eating a crab on the Langstone Harbour seafront at the Oysterbeds.







All that was left was a lump in the throat as the crab was swallowed whole

What a waste of a delicious flavour to swallow a whole crab - wonder if birds ever get indigestion?

There was absolutely NO sunlight, just a rather dim, dull day. Quite a challenge.
It must be quite a challenge to swallow crabs whole.
