  • Shanghai shenanigans

Hi everyone, I'm in Shanghai, China, this week to see what Nikon is up to (with my DPNow.com hat on. I did bring a Pen E-PL3 with me and you just have to see the view from my hotel room, so here it is:

The Chinese certainly like their gadgets, the loo in my room was a bit of a surprise :

No luxuries are spared at the Waldorf Astoria on the Bund in Shanghai, including this automatic toilet.

I had to put this video on Flickr because YouTube is blocker here. Even then I can't play the video from Flickr.

    Ooer POSH, the Waldorf Astoria.
They like their marble tiles a lot!
That thing looks like it's going to swallow you up if you get too close!

I would have thought the toilet controls would be flush mounted

Certianly looks like a brilliant place to visit. A truly image rich environment.

        Ian,
That reminds me of my first visit to Japan - in Kyoto the toilet had a remote control.

I actually met someone who was so taken with the Japanese toilets she had one shipped back to the UK and installed in her Edinburgh home

An equally sunning shot to the first one you posted over on DPNow Ian, I'd say neck and neck for honours with this one just hedging ahead the more I study it

It would be even better with a "man" sensor that did the seat, too!

I have just realised that the control panel on the wall is a battery powered remote control, so I am no longer out-loo'd by Jamie

And on closer examination there are buttons for separately or simultaneously raising and lowering the seat and lid, but I don't think both will raise automatically.
