  • From steam to shore!

We had just two full days in Somerset and as I have already mentioned, we spent some time at both Minehead and Blue Anchor stations waiting for a train!

Time for something completely different - a trip along the shoreline. We stopped briefly in Minehead, just long enough to capture a pic of the distant harbour. As we were only in the area for two days we were always going to have similar tides for the whole of our 'photographic time' and on this occasion it was most definitely tide out. We left Minehead and went on to Porlock Weir, which I had visited before, many years ago when the tide was in, so this was a very different view and I think, an interesting one. We then retraced our steps somewhat and after time at Blue Anchor station, took a look at the beach there. The following are pix of these three areas.

    1. Minehead harbour -

    2. Porlock weir -

    3. Porlock weir looking out to sea (a long way out!) -

    4. Blue Anchor beach - lone sunseekers. Do you think it was something they
    said? -

    5. Old sea defences on Blue Anchor beach, with the Welsh coast on the horizon -

      Chevvyf1 -

Thanks for your comment - glad the pix brought back memories for you. It's a lovely area to explore and as it was late September when we visited it was not too busy on the roads, though the weather could not have been better (would have been good for July/August even!).
