This duck nested under the Headmasters office window and moved the ducklings to our dipping ponds yesterday so i took these tonight with my new Sigma 135-400. All comment welcome.
Prefer the first one, great shot and a good advert for the 135 - 400. Unfortunately that adds to my dilema, should I get the 135-400 or the Bigma, both seem to be fine lenses. At least I've a while to think about it, while I save up!
Love the positioning of the ducklings in this shot, and you made the right decision to place the zone of sharpest focus on mum, as the image revolves around her.

I will bring my bigma on saturday. You can try it out.
THe Bigma is not cheap, but it does have reach. The 134-400 look like a good lens as well. Its your money as they say. The bigma is quite large and heavy wher as the 135-400 is 500g lighter.
The 135-400mm is 1245g
The 50-500mm is 1842g
I do like the bigma. It looks good (vain I know), and it gives me a large range to work with. Other lenses will be better at specific focal lengths, but it depends on what you will be using it for.
I do really like the Bigma. My one is very sharp,it can be a bit quirky with focus especially close up ie under about 10 meters.
One thing with it is the weight.I've just come back from a 6 mile walk round the Lee Valley park with it and my shoulder needs a rest.

I like the first one of the ducks but would straighten it a bit.
All the best
